Clarity Electric Steering Column Issue

Alright, gearheads, I'm stumped. My 2011 Honda Clarity, all-electric, is throwing a fit. The electric steering column adjustment is borked. Error's stored, and it won't adjust at all anymore. Mileage is sitting pretty at 125902 km. Now, before you ask, I've jiggled some wires, but I'm no electrician. Could it really be just a bad connection?

Summary of the thread

The electric steering column adjustment in a 2011 Honda Clarity is malfunctioning, with an error stored and no adjustment capability. A possible cause is a defective cable or plug connection, as indicated by the error and lack of functionality. It is recommended to have the system evaluated by a qualified workshop to accurately diagnose and repair the issue, which was confirmed to be a bad connection and subsequently fixed.

A defective cable or plug connection is a plausible cause for the symptoms you describe, particularly given the error memory indication and the complete lack of electrical adjustment functionality. However, without a thorough diagnostic process, including voltage checks and component isolation, it's difficult to confirm definitively. Have you verified the integrity of the power supply to the steering column motor and control module?

Voltage checks, eh? Is that something I can reasonably do with a multimeter, or are we talking oscilloscope-level wizardry here? I'm comfortable with basic electrical stuff, but I don't want to go poking around and fry something.

While basic continuity checks can be performed with a multimeter, a comprehensive diagnosis often necessitates more sophisticated tools to assess signal integrity and communication protocols. Given the potential complexity, and the stored error code, I strongly recommend having the system evaluated by a qualified workshop. Continuing without proper tools may exacerbate the problem or damage other components. A simple cable fault can be quickly and accurately located, and then the system can be correctly repaired.

Thanks, that's what I suspected. A trip to the shop it is! Just got it back, 95€ later, and you were spot on. Bad connection, they fixed it right up. Appreciate the sanity check!
