Clarity Tire Pressure ABS Steering Issues

I'm experiencing a strange issue with my 2016 Honda Clarity (electric engine) with 48652 km. The tire pressure low warning light came on. Simultaneously, the ABS lamp lights up, the steering wheel vibrates/shakes, and it feels like the power steering is failing because it needs a lot more effort than normal. I checked the tire pressures, and one tire seems to be losing pressure quicker than the others. Could a defective tire valve cause all these issues?

Summary of the thread

A 2016 Honda Clarity experienced issues with the tire pressure warning light, ABS light, and steering wheel vibration, alongside increased steering effort. The problem was traced to a defective tire valve causing a slow leak. The interconnected systems in the car likely triggered the ABS and steering issues. Replacing the faulty valve resolved all the problems, restoring normal functionality.

Hey there! I have a Honda Clarity too, and I had something similar happen. The low tire pressure definitely triggered the warning light for me, but I didn't notice any issues with the ABS or steering. You mentioned a faster pressure loss in one tire; is it a slow leak or a flat?

It seems to be a slow leak. I'm adding air every other day to keep it inflated. But I'm puzzled by the ABS and steering issues happening at the same time. I'm also wondering if a faulty tire sensor could be behind all this and causing some kind of electrical fault somewhere?

Ah, a slow leak! Mine was a tiny nail. Given the ABS and steering issues, it might be best to take it to a workshop. They can check for any damage while replacing the tire. It's possible the tire pressure issue is triggering other warnings due to the car's interconnected systems. I wouldn't drive too much if the steering feels off!

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and you were right. A defective valve in the tire was causing the slow leak. They replaced the valve, and the total repair cost was 280€. Now the tire pressure warning is gone, along with the ABS and steering problems. Everything's working normally again.
