Climate Control Blower Issue and Air Quality Sensor

My 2009 Mercedes C Klasse with a gasoline engine and 69654 km is acting up. The climate control blower motor is dead. A scan shows a fault with the air quality sensor, specifically the AUC sensor. Could a faulty air quality sensor really kill the blower? I've checked the fuses and they're all good. I even tried wiggling the connector on the air quality sensor hoping it was just a loose connection, but no luck. Could it be a bad cable or plug? Has anyone else run into this?

Summary of the thread

A 2009 Mercedes C Klasse is experiencing a non-functional climate control blower motor, with a diagnostic scan indicating a fault in the air quality sensor, also known as the AUC sensor. The issue may be due to a faulty connection or bad data from the sensor, which could disrupt the climate control system's operation. Suggested solutions include checking connections and potentially repairing the sensor, with a professional workshop confirming a likely faulty connection and quoting a repair cost.

Yeah, I've heard of that happening. Seems weird, but the auto recirculation function uses that sensor. If the sensor is giving bad data, it could mess with the whole system. Is the air quality sensor also known as the odor sensor or cabin air sensor in your car?

I believe the air quality sensor, the odor sensor, and the cabin air sensor are all the same thing, controlling the auto recirculation. So, if it's sending garbage data, how does that stop the blower motor from working completely? I'm trying to understand that.

It's all tied into the climate control module. If the module thinks the air is toxic, it might shut down the blower as a safety measure. I am not an expert, but if you already checked the easy stuff, maybe it's time to take it to a workshop.

I think you're right. It's going to the shop. They confirmed it's likely a faulty connection at the air quality sensor and quoted around 95€ to repair it. Fingers crossed!
