Clio ABS Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Renault Clio diesel is experiencing intermittent ABS light activation, leading to traction issues. The problem may stem from a faulty ABS sensor or a defective ABS control unit. A diagnostic check initially indicated a speed signal fault, and further investigation confirmed the ABS control unit as the culprit. The issue was resolved by replacing the control unit at a workshop.

Thanks for the reply! I did a quick diagnostic check, and it pointed towards a speed signal fault but wasn't very specific. When you say 'speed signal input,' do you mean the sensor on the wheel hub, or is it something else entirely?

In my case, the garage confirmed that the fault was with the ABS control unit itself, which was causing the speed signal problem. Unfortunately, it wasn't a simple fix. I'd suggest taking it to a reputable workshop for a more in-depth diagnosis. It sounds like the control unit is defective.

Thanks for the advice. Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on! It was the ABS control unit. Cost me around 1000€ to get it sorted, but at least it's fixed. Appreciate the help!

I had similar issues with my old Opel Astra, although the symptoms weren't exactly the same. The ABS light was on, and the speedometer was acting erratically. Have you had a diagnostic check done? It could be a faulty ABS sensor or maybe even a problem with the speed signal input to the ABS control unit.
