Clio AC Not Switching On
Summary of the thread
A 2001 Renault Clio diesel has an air conditioning system that won't switch on, despite the fuses being intact. The error memory indicates an undervoltage error. Possible causes include a faulty relay switch for the A/C compressor, a defective belt tensioner, or issues with the pressure sensor or refrigerant level. The solution involved replacing the relay switch and the belt tensioner, resolving the issue.

Thanks for the quick response! Where exactly is that relay switch located? Is it easy to get to, or am I going to need to take half the car apart to find it?

It should be in the engine compartment, usually near the fuse box. Check your car's manual; it will show the exact location. But if you're unsure, it might be best to visit a workshop. A broken relay is not always the reason for the A/C compressor shut off. There are other reasons, such as the belt tensioner or the pressure sensor. And the refrigerant level should also be checked.

Thanks so much for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and you were right, it was the relay switch! Also, the belt tensioner was defective. All in all, the repair cost was 240€. Really appreciate the help!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my Clio! The air conditioning suddenly stopped cooling, and it turned out to be a faulty relay switch for the A/C compressor. Have you checked that? It's like a tiny gatekeeper, if it's not doing its job, the compressor won't get the signal to kick in.
