Clio alarm malfunction
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Renault Clio diesel is experiencing a malfunction with its anti-theft alarm system, which is non-functional and has an error stored in the memory. The issue may be related to the alarm system's coding to activate the hazard lights when arming, which has failed. The suggested solution is to visit a workshop for diagnosis and repair, which successfully resolved the problem.

That's interesting. How would I check that? Is there a way to recode it myself, or is it something I need to take to a shop for?

In my case, yes, the indicators were supposed to flash but weren't. Honestly, I'd recommend going to a workshop with the error description. They should be able to diagnose and fix it quickly.

Thanks for the advice! Turns out the alarm system was indeed coded to activate the indicators for locking, and that was the issue. Workshop sorted it out for 45€. Appreciate the help!

Hello, I have a Renault Clio. How does the alarm work?
The Renault Clio's alarm system is designed to deter theft by sounding an alarm and flashing the hazard lights if unauthorized access is detected. It typically activates when the car is locked using the remote key fob. To ensure it's working properly, check that the indicators flash when locking the car. If you have any specific concerns or issues with your alarm system, feel free to ask!

I had a similar issue with my Clio. Does your alarm system activate the hazard lights when it's supposed to arm? It might be coded to activate optical locking but it has failed.
