Clio automatic transmission stuck in park

Hi, I'm having a strange issue with my 2013 Renault Clio diesel. It has 141418 km. The automatic transmission seems to be stuck in park. The engine won't start, the check engine light is on, and the gearbox is slipping or shifting very uncleanly when I try to move it. I also pulled the error codes, and it seems the affected control unit is defective. Any ideas? I'm expecting a 1000€ repair bill.

Wow, that sounds familiar. I had something similar happen with my Clio (petrol engine though). Is it completely stuck in park? I couldn't get mine out no matter what I tried. Did you check the gear linkage at all?

Yes, it's completely stuck. I suspected something with the linkage, but it seems fine. Is the control unit the only thing that fixed the problem?

Yeah, I did check the gear linkage and it was okay, so I ended up taking it to the workshop. They diagnosed it as a faulty control unit, which they replaced. It's best to get it checked out by a professional. I am no expert in this area.

Thanks for the info! I bit the bullet and had the control unit replaced. Everything seems to be working fine now. Hopefully, this will save someone else a headache.
