Clio automatic transmission stuck in park
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Renault Clio diesel is experiencing an issue where the automatic transmission is stuck in park, the engine won't start, and the check engine light is on. The problem is suspected to be a defective control unit, as indicated by error codes. Replacing the control unit resolved the issue, suggesting it was the root cause of the transmission and starting problems.

Yes, it's completely stuck. I suspected something with the linkage, but it seems fine. Is the control unit the only thing that fixed the problem?

Yeah, I did check the gear linkage and it was okay, so I ended up taking it to the workshop. They diagnosed it as a faulty control unit, which they replaced. It's best to get it checked out by a professional. I am no expert in this area.

Thanks for the info! I bit the bullet and had the control unit replaced. Everything seems to be working fine now. Hopefully, this will save someone else a headache.

Wow, that sounds familiar. I had something similar happen with my Clio (petrol engine though). Is it completely stuck in park? I couldn't get mine out no matter what I tried. Did you check the gear linkage at all?
