Clio Boost Pressure Control Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Renault Clio with a gasoline engine is experiencing a boost pressure control fault, leading to a check engine light, power loss, sluggish engine response, and increased fuel consumption. The issue may be due to a faulty bypass valve or boost solenoid, but a vacuum switching valve is also suggested as a potential cause. After consulting with a mechanic, the problem was confirmed to be a faulty vacuum switching valve, which was replaced, resolving the issue.

Thanks! Vacuum switching valve, eh? Where is that located, and how can I test it? I haven't noticed any distinct compressor surge, but the performance is definitely off. Is there a way to test the pressure sensor?

On my Saab, it was near the turbo, but location varies. Testing involves a multimeter and checking resistance values against specs. Honestly, save yourself the headache and have a workshop check it. They have the right tools. It was the best choice for me.

Appreciate the advice. Took it to a local mechanic, and you nailed it – faulty vacuum switching valve. Replaced it, and the Clio is back to its old self. Repair cost me 140€.

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my old Saab 9-3. Turned out to be a vacuum switching valve. Check that, and also consider the pressure sensor. Any compressor surge?
