Clio bumper antenna fault

I'm having an issue with my 2022 Renault Clio, gasoline engine. It has 158663 km on the clock. I'm getting an error related to the bumper antenna, causing the central locking to act up. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I can no longer start the engine without the key in the ignition. It's as if the car doesn't recognize the key fob. Has anyone else encountered this? I suspect it's a defective cable or plug connection to the antenna itself.

Interesting. I had a similar problem with my Clio. The keyless entry was going haywire and the car kept throwing antenna errors. Have you checked the antenna connection behind the bumper? That was the culprit for me.

Thanks! You mentioned checking the antenna connection behind the bumper. Was it visibly damaged, or did you just re-seat the connection? I'm trying to avoid unnecessary replacements if possible.

Well, in my case, the connector pins were corroded, and the cable itself looked a bit frayed. I tried cleaning it up, but it was too far gone. I recommend checking the connection carefully. If it’s corroded or damaged, that’s most likely the issue. However, if the cable and connector looks okay, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop before buying a new component.

Thank you so much for the insight! Based on your advice, I decided to take it to the local garage. Turns out you were spot on – the cable to the bumper antenna was indeed damaged. They replaced it for 95€ and now everything is working perfectly again! Keyless entry, remote start, all back to normal. Thanks again!
