Clio diesel engine power loss
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Renault Clio diesel with 53,000 km is experiencing reduced engine power, rough running, jerking during acceleration, and stalling when idling, accompanied by a 'mixture preparation error' and a check engine light. The issue was suspected to be related to the catalytic converter, but cleaning the throttle body did not resolve it. The problem was ultimately diagnosed as a defective fuel injector, which was replaced, resolving the issue and restoring the car's performance.

Thanks for the reply! You mention a fuel injection problem... Was it a rich mixture too? Was it difficult to diagnose? I'm wondering if it's worth messing with myself or just taking it to a workshop.

Yeah, it was running rich. Honestly, diagnosing it was a pain. I'd suggest getting it checked by a professional unless you're really comfortable with fuel injection systems. Could save you a lot of headache!

It was the fuel injectors! Took it to the shop, and they confirmed one injector was defective. Cost me 515€ to replace. Runs like new now! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Hey, sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my old Peugeot – though it was a petrol engine. Those symptoms… reduced power and rough running… turned out to be a fuel injection problem. Have you checked your spark plugs or looked at the injectors?
