Clio Diesel Jerking Acceleration

My 2016 Renault Clio diesel (77k km) is jerking when I accelerate, and the check engine light is on. The engine also stalls sometimes when I'm idling, and it's running super rough. Plus, there's a strong exhaust smell, and power seems way down. Anyone else had similar issues? I'm thinking maybe it's the intake manifold; read somewhere that scorching could cause a leak.

The symptoms you describe, including jerking during acceleration, the check engine light, stalling, rough running, reduced power, error codes, and a strong exhaust smell, are indicative of potential issues with the intake manifold. A leak in the intake manifold can disrupt the air-fuel mixture, leading to these problems. Have you checked the manifold pressure readings to see if they are within the expected range?

Manifold pressure readings? No, I haven't checked those. How exactly do I do that? Is it something I can do myself, or do I need special equipment?

Checking manifold pressure typically requires an OBD-II scanner capable of reading live data. While you can attempt it yourself if you have the equipment and some mechanical knowledge, given the symptoms and potential for further damage, I would advise consulting a qualified mechanic to properly diagnose and rectify the issue. A leaking intake manifold on a diesel engine can lead to significant performance problems and, if left unaddressed, could result in more costly repairs.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed it was the intake manifold. Apparently, it was leaking. They replaced it, and it cost me about 1180€, but now it runs like new again! Appreciate the help!
