Clio diesel starting stalling issues
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Renault Clio diesel is experiencing starting and stalling issues, with the check engine light on and increased fuel consumption. Error codes suggest a problem with the fuel pump, but the possibility of a faulty cable or plug connection is considered. After investigation, the issue is identified as a faulty connector at the fuel pump, which is repaired, resolving the problem.

Thanks for the reply! I'm using the correct diesel fuel, of course, and the fuel filter was replaced recently. The symptoms definitely point towards fuel starvation. Before I start tearing things apart, did your Clio exhibit the same starting and stalling behavior before you added the cleaner?

YES! Precisely the same! Okay, maybe check with the workshop. In the end, I had to have the fuel pump looked at. Honestly, my skills end at basic top ups.

Appreciate the confirmation! Sounds like I'm on the right track then. Turns out it was a faulty connector at the fuel pump, just as I suspected. 95€ later, and she's running smoothly again. Thanks for sharing your experience, it helped narrow things down!

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had similar issues with my Clio – although I never checked the error codes. What kind of fuel are you putting into it? And have you checked the fuel filter? I just chucked some fuel cleaner into mine. Any chance that could help?
