Clio exhaust temperature sensor fault
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Renault Clio owner reported a check engine light, reduced power, and increased fuel consumption, with a diagnostic pointing to a faulty exhaust temperature sensor. A similar case suggested that an exhaust leak might be the cause, particularly around the exhaust manifold and joints. The recommended solution is to inspect for leaks or consult a workshop for repairs to prevent further damage.

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't specifically looked for leaks, but I will. Where exactly should I be checking? Any specific areas that are more prone to leaks?

Given the symptoms and the sensor code, a leak could indeed be the culprit. I'd suggest inspecting the exhaust manifold and the joints along the exhaust pipe. However, if you're not comfortable doing it yourself, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. It cost me around 265€ including parts and labor to get mine fixed. It's best to get it sorted quickly to prevent further damage.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I appreciate the detailed info about the potential cost, I'll check for the leaks and if nothing obvious is found, I'll take it to a workshop. Will post the resolution if I solve the issue.

I had a similar issue with my Clio. The symptoms sound very familiar. Have you checked for any leaks in your exhaust system? That was the root cause in my case.
