Clio Hybrid Active Air Flap Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Renault Clio Hybrid is experiencing issues with the check engine light and overheating, particularly in traffic. A diagnostic scan indicates a fault with the active air flaps in the grille, possibly due to a malfunctioning flap motor. Error codes suggest abnormal current draw and incorrect flap positioning. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle checked by a workshop, as a faulty motor may require replacement to resolve the issue.

Thanks! Yes, there were error codes. One showed an abnormal current draw from the flap motor, and another said the flap position didn't match what it should be. Did your Peugeot have similar codes? Was it an easy fix?

The error codes sound like my issue. If the motor is drawing too much current or the position is off, it's likely the electromechanism. The garage said my motor was faulty and replaced the whole thing. I hoped it was just wiring. Given your symptoms and codes, get it checked by a workshop.

Thanks for sharing your experience and advice. I'll book it in for a diagnosis and repair. I was quoted about 590€ for the active air flap repair. Hopefully, a replacement fixes it. Thanks again!

That's not good! I haven't worked on a Clio, but I had a similar issue with my 2019 Peugeot 308. Check engine light and overheating, and it was the air intake/grille shutter. Did the diagnostic tool give you any specific error codes for the flap position or motor current?
