Clio Hybrid Hissing Noise and Power Loss

I'm having a weird issue with my 2021 Renault Clio Hybrid. The check engine light is on, and the engine power feels seriously reduced. I'm also hearing a whistling noise, almost like a loud hissing sound when I accelerate. I hooked it up to a reader, and it's throwing a code related to the charge air temperature sensor. I'm suspecting a bad connection in the cable or plug. Has anyone else experienced this?

Summary of the thread

A 2021 Renault Clio Hybrid is experiencing a check engine light, reduced engine power, and a hissing noise during acceleration. The issue is linked to a charge air temperature sensor, suspected to have a bad connection. The suggested solution is to inspect the air intake system for cracks or loose connections and have a professional diagnose and repair the sensor connections. The problem was resolved by replacing a faulty connector, restoring normal function.

That sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my Clio a while back. Same hissing sound and loss of power. It also turned out to be related to some sort of air sensor. Did you check the air intake system for any obvious cracks or loose connections before running the diagnostic?

I glanced at the air intake, but didn't see anything obvious. Which sensor was it on your Clio, and how did you fix it? Was it difficult to get to?

To be honest, I'm not 100% sure which exact sensor it was - it was a while ago. But I remember the mechanic saying it was the charge air temperature sensor. I wouldn't recommend tackling it yourself unless you really know what you're doing. Best bet is to take it to a workshop and have them diagnose the connections properly.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to my local mechanic, and it turned out to be a faulty connection on the charge air temperature sensor, just as you suspected. New connector and all is fine now. Cost me 95€, not too bad!
