Clio Hybrid Overheating

I'm experiencing issues with my 2022 Renault Clio Hybrid. It has 105747 km on the clock. Lately, I've noticed the engine is overheating, and it takes a very long time to reach its normal operating temperature. I've checked the coolant level, and it seems fine, so I don't suspect a coolant leak. Could this be related to the thermostat? Maybe a defective map thermostat? Anyone experienced similar issues with their Clio?

I had a similar problem with my Clio. Overheating and slow warm-up are classic signs of a thermostat issue. The thermostat is basically a valve that regulates the flow of coolant to the engine. If it's stuck closed, it can cause overheating, and if it's stuck open, the engine will take ages to warm up. Have you checked if the cooling fan is running constantly, even when the engine is cold? That could also indicate a thermostat problem.

Thanks for the quick response! I haven't specifically checked the cooling fan, but I'll definitely take a look. If the cooling fan is running constantly, does that confirm the thermostat is stuck open? Also, is it possible to diagnose the map thermostat specifically, or is it generally just a replace-and-see situation?

If the cooling fan runs constantly, it's a strong indicator the engine isn't reaching the correct temperature, which points towards a thermostat stuck open. Regarding the map thermostat, it's often difficult to diagnose definitively without specialized tools. Considering the symptoms, it's likely the culprit. Given your description, I think it is a defective map thermostat. In my experience, this is usually the case. I would recommend that you visit a local garage. Expect eventual repair costs around 350€.

Okay, thanks for the advice! It sounds like a trip to the mechanic is in order. I appreciate you confirming my suspicions. I'll post the resolution. The map thermostat was indeed defective. Replaced it, and everything is running smoothly now.
