Clio Hybrid Overvoltage Errors

Hi, I'm having a weird issue with my 2022 Renault Clio Hybrid. It's got about 117k km. I'm getting overvoltage errors popping up, causing problems and fault codes. The 12V battery seems weak when starting, plus random electrical glitches happen while driving. I've checked battery connections and fuses, but everything looks fine physically. Could an alternator failure cause such widespread overvoltage, or is it a bigger problem with the hybrid system?

I also have a Clio. I had similar symptoms, including numerous fault memory entries referencing overvoltage and the eventual failure of multiple systems. In my case, the battery was heavily discharged and defective. Start there.

Interesting! You're suggesting a defective main battery could cause an overvoltage situation? I would understand the systems failing, but where does all the voltage come from if the battery is weak?

The underlying issue is the battery's inability to maintain a stable voltage, leading to imbalances and the recorded overvoltage errors. I recommend a workshop visit to diagnose the vehicle thoroughly. The defect lead to a repair bill of 290€ in my case.

Thanks a lot for the advice. I took it to my local mechanic, and you were spot on! Turns out the battery was toast, and the charging system was trying to compensate, hence the overvoltage. New battery fitted, and everything's back to normal after costing me 290€.
