That's interesting! Where exactly are these connections located, and how would I check them? I'm not super familiar with the injection system layout.

They are directly on top of the engine. Given the symptoms, and that I don't know your mechanical skills, I'd suggest getting it checked by a workshop, could be a defective cable or something else.

Turns out it was a defective cable plug connection as you suspected. The workshop replaced it, and now everything is running smoothly again. Cost me 95€, which is a lot less than I feared. Appreciate the help!

I had a similar issue with my Clio. Have you checked the cable and plug connections to the fuel injectors? A defective connection there can cause all those symptoms – higher fuel consumption, reduced power, stalling, and even smoke.
