Clio Intake Air Temperature Sensor Fault

My 2010 Renault Clio diesel with 56k kilometers is acting up. Check engine light, low power, and rough running. OBD reader says intake air temperature sensor fault. Could it be just the sensor, or should I check other things first?

Sounds familiar! I had almost the exact same symptoms on my Clio: gutless performance, rough idling. The temperature reading seemed off to me too. Have you checked the wiring and connector to the sensor itself? Sometimes a loose connection can cause havoc.

Good shout! I wiggled the connector, but didn't properly inspect the wiring. Was your problem definitely the sensor, or did you find something else? I'm trying to decide if I can fix it myself or take it to a garage.

Honestly, check the wiring properly if you haven't already. If the wiring is ok, it was unfortunately the sensor in my experience. I ended up just taking it to a workshop. Less stress!

Thanks for the advice! I'll trace the wiring and prepare for the worst. For anyone else with this issue: it ended up being the intake air temperature sensor. Workshop confirmed and replaced it. Cost 155€ including part and labour. Runs like a dream now. Thanks again!
