Clio reduced engine power
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Renault Clio diesel experienced reduced engine power and a check engine light, suspected to be caused by a defective throttle valve or accelerator pedal module. The issue was similar to another case where a faulty throttle sensor affected the throttle body's air intake. The solution involved replacing the defective throttle valve and a faulty sensor, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Thanks for the quick reply! Fuel efficiency has definitely taken a hit, and it feels like the engine is gasping for air sometimes. When your throttle sensor went bad, did you try cleaning the throttle body first, or did you just replace the whole thing?

No worries! I didn't mess with cleaning it, honestly. Once the mechanic plugged in the diagnostic tool and saw the throttle position sensor was throwing errors, I just bit the bullet and had it replaced. Best bet is to get it to a workshop, they'll know what's up.

Took your advice and brought it to my mechanic. Turns out the throttle valve was indeed defective, like I thought. They replaced it, plus a faulty sensor. Cost me about 265€, but the Clio is back to its old self. Thanks for the help!

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I've got a Clio too, and I had similar symptoms last year – reduced power and that dreaded engine light. Did you notice any change in your air flow or fuel efficiency? For me, the throttle sensor went bad, messing with the throttle body's air intake. Keep an eye on it!
