Thanks for the quick reply! Yes the check engine light is on. Is there any way to be sure it's the boost pressure sensor before I replace it? I'm trying to avoid throwing money at the problem without a proper diagnosis.

Given the check engine light, it's highly probable the boost pressure sensor is the culprit. If the cable or plug is defective the signal can not be transmitted. Given all of the symptoms you are seeing, especially the hissing sound which can originate from the air intake, it is probably best to get it checked in a workshop. You can probably not fix it yourself.

Thank you so much for your help! I took it to a local mechanic, and you were right – it was indeed the boost pressure sensor! Apparently, the cable connector was corroded. They replaced the sensor and cleaned up the connection. Total cost was 95€. The car is now running great again!

Sounds like your turbo system is under the weather! Think of the boost pressure sensor as the turbo's informant, telling the engine's computer how much extra air it's getting. When it's faulty, the engine doesn't know how to react, hence the jerking, hissing, and power loss. Has the check engine light come on?
