Clipper engine stalls at idle

Hi, I'm having a weird issue with my 2000 Nissan Clipper (gasoline engine). The check engine light is on, and the engine stalls sometimes when idling. It has 208786 km on it. Any ideas?

Sounds like a fuel tank ventilation system issue. I had similar symptoms on my old Opel Astra, also after quite a few kilometers, and it turned out to be a leak in the system. Have you checked the pressure sensor or any of the air flow?

A leak? Where exactly should I be looking? And how would that cause the stalling? I'm not really sure what a pressure sensor does in this context.

With me, it was the activated charcoal filter that was defective, causing a system failure. The leak messes with the air/fuel mixture, and the purge valve can't compensate. Honestly, leak detection can be tricky; you might be best off having a workshop take a look.

Okay, thanks for the info. I took it to a shop, and you were right – it was the charcoal filter. Repair cost me 275€. Replacing it fixed the stalling and the check engine light is gone. Thanks again!
