CLK Multifunction Steering Wheel Failure

My 2002 Mercedes CLK, gasoline engine, is experiencing a multifunction steering wheel issue. The buttons are unresponsive and there's an error code stored. I suspect it's an electrical fault in the steering wheel connectivity.

That sounds frustrating! I have a CLK as well, and I experienced something similar last year. It turned out to be a sensor issue within the steering wheel control module. Was there any disruption before the fault occurred? Does the horn still work?

The horn still works. Could you elaborate on the sensor issue? Did you resolve it yourself, or was it a workshop job?

I did not resolve the issue myself. It appeared that the electrical fault was more complex than I initially thought. I took my CLK to a workshop where the connection cable in the steering wheel was identified as defective and replaced. I would recommend visiting a workshop.

Thanks for the insight. I took it to a workshop as suggested. The cable connection in the steering wheel was indeed defective. Repair cost 95€. It's all sorted now.
