CMAX Audio System Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Ford CMAX experienced a complete audio system failure, with no sound from the radio or Bluetooth. An error code was detected, raising the question of whether a defective display could cause the entire system to fail. After checking fuses and confirming the dashboard controls were unresponsive, it was suggested that the display might be the issue. A local shop confirmed the display was indeed faulty, causing the audio system failure, and it was repaired.

Yeah, I checked the fuses – all good. Total silence, no speaker crackle whatsoever. The dashboard controls light up, but pressing them does absolutely nothing. So, could a faulty wiring harness actually take out the entire audio system like that?

Okay, controls lighting up but doing nothing points more to the display being the culprit, especially with that error code stored. Unfortunately, diagnosing these integrated systems can be tricky. To be safe and avoid further damage, I'd suggest getting it checked by a workshop.

Thanks for the advice! Took it to a local shop, and you were spot on. Turns out the display was indeed fried, and it took the whole audio system down with it. Cost me 725€ to get it sorted. Appreciate the help!

Hmm, that's strange. You've checked the fuses, right? And is there any crackling from the speakers or just total silence? Could be a wiring issue somewhere, but a dead display causing all that seems a bit extreme. Are the dashboard controls responsive at all?
