CMAX diesel power loss and hissing sound

My 2004 Ford CMAX diesel (170016 km) has reduced engine power, rough running, and jerking during acceleration. There's also a hissing sound on acceleration and higher fuel consumption. Diagnostics suggest an intake manifold flap control problem. Could a defective switch be the cause?

I also drive a CMAX with a diesel engine. Your symptoms sound very familiar. I experienced similar issues: reduced power and that hissing sound. I wonder if the intake manifold flap might be the culprit in your case too?

Could you elaborate on your experience? Did you notice any engine misfire or the engine light on? Did you resolve the issue, and if so, what was the solution?

Yes, the engine light did come on intermittently, and there were moments it felt like the engine was about to stall. I didn't attempt any repairs myself. I'd recommend having a qualified workshop assess the manifold flap control system. Better safe than sorry.

I appreciate the details and your recommendation. I'll proceed with a professional diagnostic assessment of the intake manifold flap control system. The estimated repair cost of 465€ seems reasonable.
