CMAX Emergency Call System Malfunction

I'm having a strange issue with my 2006 Ford CMAX diesel. It only has 20809 km on the clock. The emergency call system seems to be malfunctioning. I'm getting an error message in the speedometer, along with a warning light. Also, there's an error stored in the error memory, according to my OBD2 reader. I've checked the fuses related to the telematics unit (the 'black box' responsible for emergency calls), but they all seem fine. I suspect it might be a defective cable or plug connection, but I'm not sure where to start looking. Has anyone else experienced this?

Summary of the thread

The conversation revolves around a malfunction in the emergency call system of a 2006 Ford CMAX, indicated by an error message and warning light. The issue is suspected to be due to a defective cable or plug connection, as the fuses related to the telematics unit appear fine. I had a similar problem on my CMAX. Same symptoms: error message, warning light... I was told it could be a connection issue too. Did the error code give you any clues about the specific component at fault? That might help narrow down where to look for the bad connection.

Thanks for the quick reply! The error code was somewhat generic, pointing to a malfunction in the emergency call system module itself. I'm not sure which cable or plug is most likely to cause this. I would hate to start taking apart the dashboard unnecessarily. Is there any specific area where the connections are known to be problematic?

Unfortunately, I don't know the exact location. In my case, the fault was diagnosed and repaired by a workshop. A defective cable or plug connection was listed in the report as the likely culprit. I'd suggest having it checked by a professional. It will likely be much faster and might save you some effort. In my case, the repair cost about 95€

Thanks for the advice. Based on your experience, I will probably take it to a workshop to have it properly diagnosed. The cost of 95€ is acceptable. I appreciate you confirming that this issue is not uncommon and that a connection problem is indeed a likely cause.
