CMAX Fuel Consumption and Stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Ford CMAX diesel with 39,000 km is experiencing increased fuel consumption, engine stalling at idle, a check engine light, and smoke during acceleration. These symptoms suggest a potential issue with the mass air flow (MAF) sensor. The problem was confirmed by error codes at a workshop, and replacing the MAF sensor resolved the issues.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Yeah, it does feel like the performance has dipped a bit. I haven't checked for error codes myself as I don't have the equipment. Is it really likely to be the MAF sensor? Was yours doing the same thing with the smoke?

The smoke makes me pretty confident it's the MAF sensor. Mine didn't smoke, but every engine reacts a bit differently to sensor failure. Given the other symptoms, and my past experience, I'd bet money on it. Honestly, you should probably just take it to a workshop and have them read the error codes. Replacing the sensor is usually a pretty quick job.

I took it to a local workshop, and you were spot on. The error codes pointed straight to the mass air flow sensor. They replaced it, and everything is running smoothly now. Cost me about 365€ all in. Appreciate the help!

Sounds familiar! I had something similar happen with my CMAX a while back. Higher fuel consumption and the engine stalling are classic symptoms. Does it feel like it's lost some power too? It could very well be the MAF sensor. When mine went, it threw all sorts of codes. Have you checked for any error codes?
