CMAX fuel pump symptoms corroded connector

My 2006 Ford CMAX with a gasoline engine is giving me fits. I'm getting all the classic signs of fuel pump trouble: engine that refuses to start sometimes, stalling at idle, check engine light, and when it DOES run, it's rough and drinks fuel! The computer's throwing codes, too. I've checked all the basics, but I suspect the fuel pump or its wiring harness. Anyone else had this?

I had similar symptoms on my CMAX. It turned out to be a corroded connector to the fuel pump. Before replacing the whole pump, check the electrical connections and wiring. Sometimes it's the small things.

Thanks! That's a great suggestion. Where exactly was the corroded connector located? Was it easy to get to, or did you have to wrestle with a bunch of other components to reach it? Any tips on how to best check it?

It was indeed the connector near the fuel tank. I would still recommend going to a trusted workshop. They should check it there and they are qualified to do that.

I took your advice and had a mechanic check the wiring and connectors first. You were spot on! Turns out a connector was corroded, just like you said. New connector and a bit of cleaning later, and she's running like a champ again! Total cost was only 95€. You saved me a ton of money and headache. Thanks a bunch!
