CMAX low oil pressure

My 2009 Ford CMAX diesel is showing low oil pressure. The oil pressure warning lamp lights up and there are loud mechanical noises coming from the engine. Mileage is at 100776 km. Thoughts?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my CMAX. Does the oil pressure gauge fluctuate wildly, or is it consistently low? Have you checked the oil viscosity? If it's too thin, especially in older engines, it can cause low pressure. Could also be worn engine bearings, that will also cause low oil pressure.

The oil pressure gauge is consistently low. I haven't checked the viscosity myself. How difficult is it to check the engine bearings?

Checking the engine bearings properly requires dismantling things and is a specialized job. Given the consistent low pressure and mechanical noises, plus the age of the engine, it’s likely the oil pump failing. Best to get it checked at a workshop.

Thanks for the advice, it was the oil pump. Repair ended up costing 755€.
