CMAX Runs Rich Leaky Injector

Hello, I'm hoping someone can offer some insight. I'm having a problem with my 2017 Ford CMAX (gasoline engine). It seems to be running way too rich. I've noticed a few things: the engine power is noticeably reduced, the check engine light is on, and the engine runs rough, especially at idle. My fuel consumption has also increased significantly, and I sometimes get a bit of jerking when accelerating. The car has 212217 km. Could a defective injection valve/injector be the culprit here? I was thinking of checking the air-fuel ratio and maybe the oxygen sensor, but I'm not sure where to start. Also, would a dirty intake manifold or worn spark plugs cause something like this?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra. Same symptoms – rough running, bad fuel economy, loss of power. Turned out to be a faulty injector. Have you checked for any obvious fuel leaks around the injectors? That could be a simple visual confirmation before diving deeper.

Thanks for the quick reply! No visible fuel leaks so far. When you say 'faulty injector,' do you mean it was completely blocked, or leaking too much fuel, or something else? And did you have any trouble diagnosing which injector was the problem? I’m hesitant to just replace all of them.

In my case, it was leaking way too much fuel. The shop used some diagnostic tool to check each injector individually. Honestly, unless you're really comfortable with that sort of thing, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They can pinpoint the exact problem injector and save you time and potential headaches.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice! It ended up being exactly what you said – a leaky injector. The shop ran a diagnostic and confirmed it. Final repair cost was 515€. Replaced the faulty injector, and now everything is running smoothly again!
