Cobalt Engine Stalling IAC Valve
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Chevrolet Cobalt is experiencing engine stalling at idle, with a check engine light indicating an issue with the idle air control (IAC) valve. The air intake appears heavily contaminated, which could be contributing to the problem. Cleaning the throttle body is suggested as a potential solution, as it may resolve idle issues if it's dirty. If cleaning doesn't fully resolve the issue, a professional inspection and possible replacement of the IAC valve might be necessary.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Thanks! I haven't cleaned the throttle body yet, but I will certainly give it a try. How did you resolve your issue? Was it related to the throttle body, or did you end up needing to replace the IAC valve?

In my case, cleaning the throttle body helped a little, but the problem kept coming back. Eventually, I had to take it to a workshop. They confirmed it was the IAC valve and that the intake was pretty bad. They replaced the valve and thoroughly cleaned the intake. Cost me around 425€, but it solved the issue completely. Might be worth getting it checked professionally if cleaning doesn't fully fix it for you.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! Based on your advice, I will attempt to clean the throttle body first. However, considering your experience, it seems prudent to prepare for a visit to the workshop. I truly appreciate your insights.

I had a similar problem with my Cobalt. My check engine light came on and the engine would stall at idle too. I think the air intake being dirty is a likely culprit. Have you tried cleaning the throttle body yet? It's connected to the air intake and can cause idle issues if it's gunked up. It might be a simple fix before replacing the IAC valve.
