Cobalt headlight range control malfunction
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Chevy Cobalt is experiencing a headlight range control malfunction, with the low beams pointing incorrectly and a warning light on the speedometer. The issue may be due to a faulty servomotor within the headlight assembly, which adjusts the headlight position. It is recommended to have a professional mechanic inspect and potentially replace the servomotor to resolve the problem.

Servomotor, huh? Where exactly is that located, and is it something I could potentially fix myself? Or am I looking at a bigger job here?

Yeah, the servomotor is inside the headlight assembly itself. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend trying to fix it yourself unless you're really comfortable taking apart the headlight. I ended up taking mine to a workshop; turned out to be a defective servomotor. They replaced the whole thing. Best to get it checked out properly; you don't want to blind other drivers!

Thanks for the advice! Servomotor it is then. I'll take it to a mechanic. It ended up costing me around 1040€, just as a heads-up for anyone else with this lighting system issue.

Sounds familiar! I had something similar happen on my Cobalt. Is it like, the lights are trying to adjust, but they just can't find the right spot? It could be a problem with the servomotor – that's the little motor that moves the headlight up and down.
