Cobalt Overheating Thermostat

I've got a 2014 Chevrolet Cobalt with a gasoline engine. It's overheating and takes longer to reach operating temperature. I think it might be a problem with the map thermostat in the cooling circuit. Anyone else had this?

Summary of the thread

A 2014 Chevrolet Cobalt is experiencing overheating and delayed reaching of operating temperature, suspected to be due to a faulty map thermostat in the cooling circuit. The temperature gauge climbs steadily, and the coolant level is normal. A similar issue was resolved by replacing the thermostat, suggesting that checking and potentially replacing the thermostat at a workshop could solve the problem.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I also own a Cobalt and experienced similar overheating issues. Is your temperature gauge fluctuating erratically before it overheats, or does it climb steadily? Also, have you checked the coolant level recently?

The temperature gauge climbs steadily, not erratically. Coolant level looks okay. Any details from your experience that might help?

Okay, so it sounds very similar to the issue I had. Based on that, and your original post, it really does sound like the thermostat. I would suggest getting it checked at a workshop. It should resolve your problem.

Thanks, that confirms what I suspected. I'll take it to a workshop to get the thermostat sorted. Looks like it will be around 350€.
