User error? Hmm, never considered that. What do you mean exactly? Is it possible to damage the switch by pressing the brake pedal too hard or something?

I'm suggesting that perhaps the switch is not being allowed to return to its fully extended position and as such is not closing the circuit. I would recommend checking the operation of the brake pedal switch, or visiting a workshop.

Okay, I checked, and sure enough, the floor mat was slightly interfering with the brake pedal. Moved the mat, and the problem is gone! No workshop visit needed, 0€ repair cost. Thanks for the help!

Sounds like it could be the brake light switch. Are you sure that you are fully releasing the brake pedal after using it? I'm wondering if it is a user error issue rather than a hardware one?
