Colorado diesel engine running lean
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Chevrolet Colorado diesel is experiencing issues with running lean, indicated by reduced power, a check engine light, rough engine performance, and jerking during acceleration. While initially suspecting a defective injection valve or injector, another person suggested checking the oxygen sensor and catalytic converter first, as these components can also cause similar symptoms. It is advised to have these parts inspected by a workshop to avoid unnecessary replacement of injectors.

I haven't specifically checked the oxygen sensor or catalytic converter yet. I was leaning towards the injectors because of the rough running and jerking. Did your issue involve similar symptoms, or were they different?

Yes, mine had similar symptoms - rough idling and jerking during acceleration. I initially suspected the fuel injectors, but in my case, it was a faulty oxygen sensor causing the engine to run lean. I'd recommend getting it checked by a workshop. It might save you from replacing injectors unnecessarily. My repair costs amounted to 515€, so you want to be sure!

I will definitely have the oxygen sensor and catalytic converter checked before jumping to any conclusions about the fuel injectors. I appreciate you sharing your experience and the potential cost involved. I will take it to the workshop.

I had a similar problem with my Colorado, although it was a petrol engine. Reduced power and the check engine light were the first signs. Have you checked the oxygen sensor or the catalytic converter? It might be worth investigating those before assuming it's the fuel injectors.
