Coolant Leak on Crown Victoria
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Ford Crown Victoria owner noticed a low coolant level and a check engine light, suspecting a coolant leak. Initial advice suggested checking radiator hoses, the water pump, and thermostat housing for leaks. If no visible leaks were found, a more serious issue like a head gasket was considered, though deemed less likely. The problem was resolved by identifying and replacing a leaking radiator hose, with the coolant topped up, resolving the issue.

Thanks for the quick response! I'll check the hoses. What if I don't see any visible leaks? Could it be something more serious, like a head gasket?

It's possible, but less likely with your mileage. If you can't find an obvious leak, I'd take it to a trusted workshop. They can pressure test the cooling system to pinpoint the problem.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. Took it to the shop; it was a small leak in one of the radiator hoses – replaced it, topped up the radiator fluid. Total cost was 52€. Problem solved!

I had a similar issue with my Crown Vic. Check your radiator hoses first. Then have a look at the water pump and thermostat housing for any signs of leakage. Any sweet smell around the engine?
