Coolant Loss Check Engine Light

Coolant level keeps dropping in my 2013 Renault Wind (gasoline engine), triggering the check engine light. I've checked for obvious leaks around the coolant reservoir and radiator hoses, but everything seems dry. Could a defective cable or plug connection be the issue? Has anyone else encountered this?

Summary of the thread

The main issue is a recurring coolant loss in a 2013 Renault Wind, causing the check engine light to activate. Despite checking for visible leaks, none were found. A possible cause could be a faulty connection to the coolant level sensor. The suggested solution is to have a workshop inspect and potentially repair the sensor connections, as it may be challenging to access and test the cables independently.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Coolant low and check engine light? Sounds familiar. I have a Wind too. Check the connections to the coolant level sensor. Had a similar problem once.

Interesting! Where exactly is that sensor located? And how involved was the fix? Could I handle it myself, or would I need to bring it in?

Yeah, that was the problem. It's a pain to get to, and you will probably need to test the cables. Honestly, I'd suggest letting a workshop take a look. Cost me 95€, so it wasn't too bad.

Thanks for the tip! I will bring my car to the local mechanic. Sounds like you saved me a major headache and potentially engine overheating!
