Corolla active air flap fault
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Toyota Corolla Hybrid is experiencing an active air flap fault, indicated by an intermittent check engine light and engine overheating during prolonged use. Diagnostic scans suggest a defective electromechanism controlling the grille shutter as the cause. A similar issue was resolved by replacing the electromechanism, and it is recommended to have it checked by a qualified technician to prevent further complications.

Yes, the cooling system definitely seems impacted, particularly during slower speeds or when idling. Radiator fan seems to be running more often than usual. Was your issue definitively traced to the air flap electromechanism?

Yep, same symptoms here, and after a bit of fiddling around, and eventually having it properly diagnosed at a workshop, it was indeed the air flap electromechanism. I’d suggest getting it checked out by a qualified technician; could save you some headaches.

Thanks for confirming. Based on your experience and the diagnostic scan results, I'll proceed with replacing the electromechanism. The estimated repair cost is around 590€, which seems reasonable. I appreciate your input.

Interesting. I had a similar issue with my Corolla – it's also a hybrid. Check engine light and all that. Did the cooling system seem affected? I'm wondering if it is the same issue I had.
