Yeah, the code pointed directly to the torque converter lock-up clutch. Solenoid issue was ruled out during diagnosis. Is a full converter failure common on these automatic gearboxes?

Converter failures do happen, unfortunately. The lock-up clutch is a wear item, and depending on driving style and gearbox maintenance, they can fail prematurely. Given the symptoms and error code, a defective auto transmission converter is highly probable. Best to get it checked at a workshop to confirm.

Thanks for the confirmation! Dropped it off at the workshop, and they confirmed it. Torque converter needs replacing. Quoted 2120€ for the repair. Appreciate the help!

Sounds like a potential auto transmission converter issue. Those symptoms, especially the grinding and slipping, are classic. Did the error code specifically mention the lock-up clutch solenoid? Sometimes a bad solenoid can mimic a full converter failure.
