Corolla Brake Light Error

Hey, I've got a weird issue with my 2020 Toyota Corolla Hybrid. Mileage is at 104803 km. I'm getting an error stored in the error memory related to the brake lights. The brake lights aren't working, and I've got an error message popping up on the infotainment system. I've checked the bulbs, but they seem fine. Any ideas? I suspect it's the brake light switch.

I had something similar happen with my Corolla a while back. Not a hybrid, but still... Is the error message constant, or does it come and go? Also, did you try wiggling the brake pedal when the car is on? Maybe the switch is just a bit stuck.

The error is pretty consistent. Comes on almost immediately after starting the car. I did try wiggling the brake pedal, but no luck. Where is the brake light switch located?

Okay, consistent error sounds more like a faulty switch than just a loose connection. It's usually located near the top of the brake pedal arm, under the dash. Honestly, even if you find it, messing with the brake system can be tricky. Since it’s consistent, I would get it checked at a workshop.

Thanks! I took your advice and went to a workshop. Turns out, a piece of trim had come loose and was ever-so-slightly pressing the brake pedal. The sensor recognised this as a false positive and threw an error. They just repositioned the piece of trim. Total cost: 0€ Thanks for your help!
