Corolla diesel poor starting

Hi, I have a 2015 Toyota Corolla diesel with 195274 km on the clock. Recently, it's been starting poorly. My mechanic says there's an interrupted continuous plus on Terminal 30. He mentioned something about a heavily discharged or defective battery. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Greetings! That sounds quite similar to an issue I had with my 2012 Opel Astra. The culprit turned out to be a sneaky short circuit somewhere along the line, constantly draining the battery even when the car was off. It might be worth having your mechanic thoroughly check for any such electrical gremlins. Have they taken a look at the circuit breaker or the fuse box?

Thanks for the info! Short circuit, huh? They did check the battery and said it wasn't holding charge properly. But, where would they typically look for a short circuit like that?

Well, with my Astra, it was a tedious process! The technician started by disconnecting various circuits one by one to isolate the draw. It could be anywhere, really – from a faulty interior light circuit to a malfunctioning sensor. Given the symptoms and the 'interrupted continuous plus', I'd strongly recommend your mechanic investigate the main power supply lines and associated fuses. If they can't pinpoint it quickly, it may be best to take it to a workshop with specialized diagnostic tools for electrical faults.

You were spot on! Turns out a damaged wire was causing a short. Replaced the wire and a faulty fuse; cost me 290€. Car starts like a dream now. Thanks for the help!
