Corolla engine stalls camshaft sensor issue
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Toyota Corolla with 21,109 km is experiencing poor starting, engine stalling at idle, and an illuminated check engine light. The issue is suspected to be related to the camshaft sensor, possibly due to a defective encoder wheel. A similar case confirmed that replacing the camshaft sensor and encoder wheel resolved the problem, suggesting a visit to a workshop for diagnosis and repair.

Yeah, I've considered the sensor. What were the specific codes you pulled when yours acted up? Trying to narrow it down.

I didn't pull the codes myself, but the workshop told me the camshaft sensor was the culprit. The encoder wheel on the camshaft was defective. They replaced the sensor and it fixed the stalling issue, but I would highly recommend getting to the workshop.

Thanks for the insight. Turns out you were spot on. Took it to the shop, and it was indeed the camshaft sensor and encoder wheel. Cost me 695€, but at least it's fixed now.

I had similar symptoms with my Corolla. Did you check the camshaft position sensor? It could be faulty and messing with the ignition timing.
