Corolla Keyless Entry Failure
Summary of the thread
The keyless entry system on a 2004 Toyota Corolla failed, while the central locking and remote key remained functional. The issue was suspected to be related to the door mechanism or an electrical problem within the door. After checking the fuses, which were fine, it was suggested to inspect the door actuator connection for corrosion or looseness. Upon investigation, a loose cable and corroded signal pins were found and resolved using contact spray, restoring the keyless entry functionality.

Good shout on the door actuator connection! Where exactly is that located, and how much dismantling am I looking at to get to it? Is it part of the door switch assembly?

On the Saab, it was inside the door, connected to the locking mechanism. You'll need to remove the door card at least. I'd advise checking the connection first. Check the pins for corrosion. If that looks ok, it might be the actuator itself. But honestly, at that point, it might be worth getting a workshop to take a look. I did that, and they charged me 95€ and all works fine.

Appreciate the heads up! I had a feeling it was going to be a door-card-off job. Just wanted a bit of a steer before diving in. Solved: Cable was lose and the signal pins were corroded. Used some contact spray and now the keyless entry works again. Thanks a lot!

Sounds familiar. Had a similar gremlin with my old Saab 9-3 a few years back. Keyless entry packed it in, but the remote still worked fine. I also had an error stored. Have you checked the cable or plug connection to the door actuator (the bit that physically locks and unlocks the door)? These things can corrode or work loose.
