Corolla start stop malfunction

I've got a 2023 Toyota Corolla hybrid with about 155k km on the clock. Recently, the start-stop system has stopped working. The engine shuts off as normal, but I get an error stored and a warning light. Any ideas?

I have a Corolla too. I had a very similar issue with my start-stop. It would shut off, but then wouldn’t automatically restart. Did you check if your battery is getting old? When the battery isn't holding enough charge, the start-stop gets wonky.

Thanks for the quick response! I haven't checked the battery specifically, but the car starts fine otherwise. Could it still be the battery even if it starts okay?

Yeah, that's what confused me too! The car started fine, but the start-stop is super sensitive to voltage. It might be enough to start the engine, but not enough for the start-stop system to work reliably. Honestly, I'd get the battery checked out at a workshop. It's likely heavily discharged or defective. Saved me a lot of headache!

Okay, that makes sense. I'll take it to a workshop and have them check the battery. They said it was heavily discharged and quoted me 290€ for a new one. Thanks!
