Corolla Steering Column Adjustment Failure

Thanks, I checked the fuses and relays, and they seem fine. I have an OBD-II scanner, which gave a generic error code for the steering column adjustment. It's not specific enough to find the bad connection. Considering the electrical system analogy, should I examine the wiring harness more closely, especially looking for wear?

Since you checked the basics and have a generic error code, examining the wiring harness is a good idea. But, electrical systems in modern cars are complex. Without the right tools, you could make it worse. I'd suggest seeing a qualified technician. It sounds minor. A pro can save time and trouble. Don't risk damaging anything without the right tools.

I took your advice and brought it to a certified technician. You were right about a defective connection. The technician found a corroded connector in the steering column wiring harness. The repair, including replacing the connector, cost 95€. Thanks for the help!

Steering column adjustment failures are common. Sounds like you're on the right track. Think of the electrical system like arteries; even a small blockage (loose connector, frayed wire) can mess things up. Did you check the fuses and relays? A blown fuse could be the issue. Also, do you have a diagnostic tool for more specific error codes? They're helpful for finding the fault.
