Corolla transmission slipping error code

My 2015 Toyota Corolla with a gasoline engine sometimes won't start, and the check engine light is on. It's got about 129,590 km on it. The transmission seems to be slipping a bit. I had it scanned, and there's an error code related to the automatic transmission parking position. Could this be a faulty control unit?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my old 2012 Audi A4. Same symptoms. Does it happen intermittently? I had shifting issues too. Did you check the neutral position or the gear linkage?

Yes, it's intermittent, sometimes it starts fine, other times nothing. The gearbox slips especially when accelerating from slow speeds. I haven't specifically checked the neutral position or gear linkage myself, where should I start?

Okay, on my Audi, that intermittent thing and the slipping were key signs. I suspected the park brake. It ended up being the control unit itself. You can check the linkage for obvious damage, but honestly, with those symptoms and the error code, I'd suggest taking it to a shop. They can diagnose the control unit properly.

I appreciate the advice. I took it to my mechanic. The diagnostic pointed to a defective transmission control unit. Parts and labor came out to around 1000€. Hopefully, this fixes the issue for good.
