Corolla VANOS Issue

No, he didn't mention low power or the timing chain specifically. He just said the diagnostic tool pointed to the inlet VANOS and suspects a defect in one of the camshaft solenoid valves or power supply not available. Is that the same thing you experienced? What was the fix for your car?

Yes, it sounds very familiar! I remember him talking about the camshaft solenoid valves. Honestly, I'm not super knowledgeable about car mechanics, but I do remember it involved the VANOS system. The repair involved some specialized tools, and I didn't want to mess anything up, so I took it to a trusted workshop. With these kinds of things is better to have a professional take care of it

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience! It sounds like I'm on the right track with the VANOS issue. I'll definitely take your advice and get it checked out by a workshop. I think I will be looking at about 250€ for the repair. Hopefully, that will fix it!

I had something similar with my Corolla, though I can't recall the exact year. The check engine light was on, and my fuel consumption went up too. I remember reading something about the inlet camshaft being affected. Did the mechanic mention anything about low power or the timing chain? It could be related to that VANOS thing they mentioned.
