Corolla water sensor issue
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Toyota Corolla diesel with 52,000 km had a check engine light and rough engine performance, suspected to be due to a water sensor issue. The problem was identified as a bad cable to the sensor. After replacing the faulty cable, the check engine light was resolved, and the engine ran smoothly again.

Thanks! Could you tell me which sensor connections you mean? Also, did the error code point right to the water sensor, or was it a general code?

Yes, the error code pointed directly to the water sensor. I would recommend checking the connection and eventually going to the workshop, just in case. They will test the sensor properly.

Thanks for the advice! I had the sensor connections checked at a local workshop. The cable to the sensor was bad. Replacement and labor cost 95€. The check engine light is off, and the engine is running smoothly now. Thanks again!

I had a similar issue with my Corolla. The check engine light and rough running were definitely worrying. Have you checked the sensor connections yourself? Sometimes it's just a loose plug.
