Corolla Wiper Failure

I've got a 2020 Toyota Corolla Hybrid with about 140,744 km on the clock. Recently, the windshield wipers stopped working entirely. No response at all when I flick the switch. I scanned the car and there's an error code related to the wiper circuit. I’ve checked the fuse, and it seems fine. Before I start tearing apart the steering column looking for a bad connection, has anyone else experienced this with a Corolla? I suspect it might be a faulty cable or plug somewhere in the system. Could this also affect the cruise control?

Could be a dodgy connection, you're right to suspect that first. When you say you checked the fuse, did you just visually inspect it, or did you test it with a multimeter? Sometimes they can look okay but still be broken. Also, have you tried wiggling the wiper switch itself to see if you get any intermittent response? It might help narrow down the location of the fault, otherwise it could also be the wiper motor itself.

Good point about the multimeter, I only visually checked the fuse. I will get the multimeter out, that's a great idea. Where exactly is the wiper motor located on this model? I want to check if it is getting any power. And yes, I did wiggle the switch, but got absolutely nothing.

Yeah, definitely check the fuse properly with a meter. The wiper motor will typically be under the hood, close to the base of the windshield on the driver's side. You should be able to trace the linkage from the wiper arms back to it. If you're not getting any power there and the fuse is good, and wiggling the switch did nothing, honestly, it may be time to visit a workshop. Given the error code you pulled, a diagnostic by a professional will be much faster.

Thanks for the advice! You were spot on about the fuse - looked fine, but was actually toast. Replaced it, still no wipers! Took it to a shop, and they found a bad connector on the steering column. 95€ later and it's all fixed. Appreciate the help!
