Corsa Blower Issues: Defroster Flap Control Problems?

Thanks for the input! My car's at 298315 KM, and I'm experiencing these issues pretty much all the time. Yeah, there's this weird clicking noise when I switch between modes, and the blower motor seems to be working, but the airflow is super weak. It's driving me nuts, especially with the weather getting colder. I'll definitely check out that servomotor cable connection you mentioned, sounds like it could be the same problem. Might give my regular mechanic a call tomorrow to have a look at it.

Hey again! Thanks for those details, that clicking noise is exactly what I had with my Astra before I got it fixed! The high mileage could definitely be a factor here. When my servomotor cable started acting up, it also made that distinctive clicking sound, especially when switching between different air modes. Mine was at about 270,000 KM when it happened. After getting mine fixed, I actually learned that these connection issues are pretty common in Vauxhalls of our generation. The weak airflow combined with the clicking is almost a textbook sign of the servomotor problem. My mechanic showed me the old connection, and it was pretty corroded, apparently, it's a weak point in the design. I'm glad you're getting it checked out soon. Just a heads up, make sure they check the entire connection, not just the visible part. In my case, they initially only looked at the exterior connection, but the problem was actually deeper in the wiring. When they finally found the real issue, it was a quick fix. Keep us posted on what your mechanic finds! I'm curious to know if it's the same problem I had.

Thanks so much for all the detailed info! It's really helpful to hear about your experience, especially since our cars are from around the same era. I'll definitely tell my mechanic about the servomotor cable connection and make sure they do a thorough check of the entire wiring system, not just the visible parts. That clicking noise matching your experience makes me feel a bit more confident about what might be wrong. Knowing it cost you around 200€ helps me budget for the repair too. I'll update the thread once I get it checked out, hopefully it'll be a straightforward fix like yours was. Really appreciate you taking the time to help out with this!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2006 Vauxhall Astra (I have some experience working on cars, but mainly basic maintenance). The symptoms were exactly the same, faulty airflow and defroster issues. Turned out it was a bad servomotor cable connection. Took it to my local workshop, and they had to replace the connection. Cost me around 200€, but it fixed the problem completely. Before you head to the mechanic, could you tell us:, Does it make any unusual sounds when switching air modes? Does it happen all the time or intermittently? Have you checked if the blower motor itself is working? This could help pinpoint if you're dealing with the same issue I had. The Corsa and Astra share quite a few similar components in the HVAC system. Let me know these details and I'll try to help further!
